"The Gateway of India in Mumbai, one of the country's most important monuments, was the setting for the
Dior Fall 23 show from
Maria Grazia Chiuri.
For the occasion, the magnificent structure was fronted by an ephemeral arch, almost eight meters high, covered with a toran, a decorative hanging spectacularly hand-embroidered with symbolic iconography by the master artisans of
Chanakya and the
Chanakya School students, a task that took a total of 35,000 hours. Delineating the runway, thousands of cut flowers combined to form the intricate patterns glowing beneath the lights in two installations extending nearly the length of the esplanade. "
