"Invited by Maria Grazia Chiuri to devise the scenographic installations for the unveiling of the Dior Couture Autumn-Winter 2022-2023 collection, the artist Marta Roberti looked to depictions of goddesses from different global civilizations, combining them with flora and fauna in images that were translated into huge embroidered panels by the Chanakya School of Craft artisans. The resulting processional effect intentionally echoed the passage of the models along the runway."

"The Gateway of India in Mumbai, one of the country's most important monuments, was the setting for the Dior Fall 23 show from Maria Grazia Chiuri.
For the occasion, the magnificent structure was fronted by an ephemeral arch, almost eight meters high, covered with a toran, a decorative hanging spectacularly hand-embroidered with symbolic iconography by the master artisans of Chanakya and the Chanakya School students, a task that took a total of 35,000 hours. Delineating the runway, thousands of cut flowers combined to form the intricate patterns glowing beneath the lights in two installations extending nearly the length of the esplanade."

"The venue's walls were lined with works by the African-American artist Mickalene Thomas representing portraits of pioneering and powerful Black and mixed-race women. Reproduced on textiles, these in turn were hand-embellished with sequins and crystals by the embroiderers of the Chanakya ateliers and Chanakya School."

"The scenography for the unveiling of the Dior AW22 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri centered around 'The Next Era', a large-scale installation by Mariella Bettineschi. The Italian artist looked to female portraits from European art of the 16th to 19th centuries, removing the figures from their contexts and transposing them in black and white in abbreviated form, while additionally slicing and stacking their eyes in the process. The consequence of this radical feminist act creates an uneasily powerful interaction with the viewer. And this allusion to a doubled vision also finds a parallel in the collection’s own aim of providing fresh and inventive perspectives on established fashion ideas."
